About our instructor, Julie Barton, NC LMBT,
MS Phys Ed and Athletic Training, Certified
Strength and Conditioning Specialist

My professional teaching
experience started while obtaining my
Masters degree at Ohio University. During
which time I taught First Aid, CPR, and CPR
instructor training. In addition to teaching
I was able to publish a case study in the
Journal of Athletic Training, "Aneurysmal
bone cyst in a female collegiate field hock
player. Journal of Athletic Training 2000."
I
gained more teaching experience at
Heidelberg College as a Head Womens
Athletic Trainer and Instructor. During my
two years there I was in charge of
supervising and instructing six student
athletic trainers per semester while working
with sports teams. Additionally I developed
curriculums for the following courses: First
Aid CRP, Exercise Physiology, and
Introduction to Athletic Training,
Pharmacology, and Therapeutic Modalities.
As a
certified athletic trainer my
responsibilities included, but were not
limited to: evaluation, treatment, and the
development of injury prevention and
rehabilitation protocols. While in the
clinical setting, manual therapy techniques
were used on clients ranging from sports
massage, muscle energy, active release
techniques, and neuromuscular.
I
have over five years experience as a massage
therapist. My primary focus during the past
three years was developing the massage
therapy services at Impact Athletics. I
designed and implemented a monthly massage
newsletter, promotions, and all brochures. I
also conducted several workshops related to
massage therapy including proper foam
rolling techniques and the benefits of
massage therapy.
I have continuing education
certifications in the following areas:
Level 1 Advanced Myoskeletal Therapy,
Integrative Neuromuscular Myofascial
Technique: Internal Jaw/Anterior Neck/Spine,
Low back and Hip, and Professional ethics.
In addition to my massage therapy
credentials, I am also a Certified Athletic
Trainer and Certified Strength and
Conditioning Specialist and a member of the
National Athletic
Trainers Association
and the
National Strength and
Conditioning Association.
At Hands on Health, Raleigh and Cary massage
therapy, we strive to bring all that is
possible in the practice of massage therapy
and wellness into a treatment session! |
